Kathmandu, 11 March: After Terai-Madhesh-centered parties started ‘lobbying’ to prevent the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSPN) from being given the post of Vice-President, differences and division has surfaced within the eight-party ruling coalition over power sharing. With Loktantrik Samajbadi Party, Janamat Party and Nagrik Unmukti Party have increased not to give the vice president to JSP, the tone of Nepali Congress (NC) and Maoist Center (MC) leaders has dramatically changed.
When the new equation was formed, the leaders had an ‘understanding’ that NC will be given to President while JSP will get Vice President JSPN on February 11. After NC leader Ramchandra Paudel has been elected President, there is a difference of opinion about giving the Vice President to JSPN. The JSPN has already decided to field Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, the leader of the parliamentary party, as the Vice President on Thursday.
JSPN President Upendra Yadav wants to enter into the parliament through by-elections by making Ramsahay Yadav vice president. The Bara-2 electoral constituency will be vacant if Ramsahay becomes vice president. According to the political analysts, as part of the strategy to prevent Upendra Yadav from coming to Parliament, there is an attempt to find the Vice President from other than JSPN. They are of the view that the eight party alliance meeting scheduled for this afternoon is unlikely to endorse Ramsahay as a common candidate for the vice president.
