Movement hours during prohibitory period increased

Kathmandu, Sept 12: The Nepali Army has announced that daytime restrictions and a night curfew will remain in place in the Kathmandu Valley today as well.
However, movement is allowed only during fixed hours, from 6 AM to 11 AM and from 5 PM to 7 PM, for essential activities, the Army said.
This system has been in place since Wednesday due to the tense situation caused by the Gen Z protests.
During the restriction and curfew hours, vehicles providing essential services like ambulances, hearses, fire trucks, health workers, security personnel, media, and those transporting food, cooking gas, fuel, milk, vegetables, water, telecom services, and medicines will be allowed to operate.
Employees of government offices, the National Human Rights Commission, banks, financial institutions, and other public institutions can commute to work by showing their original ID cards (not digital ones), the Army stated.
Similarly, domestic and international flight passengers will be allowed to travel to the airport by showing their tickets. The Army has urged everyone to coordinate with nearby security personnel if needed.
For areas outside the Kathmandu Valley, the respective District Security Committees will decide and coordinate measures based on the local security situation.
The Army reminded the public that the limited hours for movement are meant only for buying essentials, observing religious or cultural traditions, or traveling to and from workplaces. Rallies, sit-ins, or protests during these hours are strictly prohibited.
According to the statement from the Army headquarters, restrictions will stay in place from 11 AM to 5 PM, followed by a curfew from 7 PM until morning.
