
Kathmandu, May 25: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has embarked on a week-long visit to China leading a delegation of the UML. The delegation, including ministers from the UML, left for Beijing on Saturday at the invitation of the Chinese Communist Party’s International Department. The delegation consists of 15 members, including Minister of Industry Damodar Bhandari and UML’s International Department Chief Raghubir Mahaseth. Other members include Standing Committee member Karn Bahadur Thapa, leaders Devi Bhattaran, Goma Devkota, Dr. Kailash Bhandari, Bhes Bahadur Adhikari, and Mahendra Bista.
During her stay in China, former President Bhandari is scheduled to meet with the Chinese Vice President.
The delegation will participate in events in Beijing, Donghuan, and Guangxi. Several programs have been scheduled there, with former President Bhandari. On Monday, May 26, Bhandari is set to address an event organized by the CPC’s International Department and the Chinese Foreign Ministry in Beijing, where leaders from neighboring countries have been invited. The topic of former President Bhandari’s address will be the relationship between political parties in neighboring countries.
The visit of the UML team led by former President Bhandari is considered as her return to active UML politics.
