Loktantra and climate change

BABBLES

By Babbler

Our political leaders are so visionary and creative that they can define even the relations between Loktantra and press freedom. They, on the occasion of the international press freedom day on May 3, described the importance of press freedom and loktantra to curb climate change.

For our leaders, “loktantra” is everything as they have been able to exploit it in their personal interests.

Air ambulances and Chinese aircraft

Around half a dozen brand-new aircraft procured by the Nepal government and also donated by the Chinese government are grounded at the Tribhuwan International Airport.

Technicians have proved that they are in a flying condition. Due to some reasons, perhaps due to the Westerners’ anti-China campaign, Nepal Airlines was unable to operate them.

If the government is wise, instead of dumping and disposing of them almost free of cost, should handover them over to the Nepal Army and operate charter flights to the remote destinations. From the profit earned by operating such charter flights, the government could purchase seven helicopters with the plan of operating air ambulances one each for one province.

Let’s use the aircraft instead of dumping or disposing of them free of cost.

Air pollution and our government

Forest fires are taking place in above 150 places, according to reports. Some people lost their lives. Forrest properties including the wild animals worth billions of rupees have been lost. The government seems unaware of the pathetic situation and the air pollution created by the forest fires. Harms created by air pollution on the health of commoners are very serious. Every year, such forest fires are taking place like cold waves during the winter season. There are three levels of government but they have become the factory producing political leaders. And the leaders are exhibiting their naiveness as if they are safe from the polluted air.

At least, if the three levels of government had taken precautions, it could be controlled. After continuous forest fires for weeks, the Home Ministry issued a notice to arrest those who were involved in forest firing. Why the Ministry didn’t make aware the people before forest fires took place? To save our forest and wild lives, the government should develop firelines in the forest and clean forest wastes timely.

S Jaishankar’s blame

Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, during the election campaign, talking to Indian journalists, blamed Nepal published a new political map by incorporating Lipulekh, Limpiyuadhara and Kalapani unilaterally.

In a hegemonic attitude, the Indian minister claimed that although Nepal published a new map, the Indian position is the same and the ground reality has not been changed.

There are some bilateral mechanisms constituted to resolve problems between the two nations. However, every time, the issue of border disputes is removed from the agenda of the talks under Indian pressure.

After all, India is bullying Nepal. The solution could be empowering our military force. We need our strong army, this is the reality. Maybe, Sumana Shrestha, Swarnim Wagle and many pro-Indian intellectuals oppose this idea. If the government army becomes expensive to feed, let’s give them the responsibility of running infrastructural industries and key strategic projects.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

It seems that RSS (the mother organisation of India’s BJP) has started its campaign from the far west. Religion has no boundaries, but the nation has its own boundaries. The foundation of Nepal’s unification is the Himawatkhanda of Hindu, Buddhist, Kirant, and Muslim unity. It is not part of the RSS agenda of an indivisible India. It is important to understand Nepal.

Arjun Gyawali

On the occasion of his coronation, King Birendra proposed that Nepal should be declared a zone of peace. After the 1990 movement, the proposal was dropped in a way. The importance of the proposal is much more important today than it was yesterday.

Keshabprasad Bhattarai

The Congress leadership has dropped out all its stances on nationalism and democracy. Abandoning all principles is compromising with the communists just for power. The Congress has become unrecognizable like a rhinoceros coming out from a mud pond.

 Devprakash Tripathi

Forgetting the bitter truth that the current budget had to be reduced to 15.3 trillion rupees due to a lack of resources and spending capacity, the preparation for bringing a new budget worth 19 trillion rupees will become another blunder for destabilizing the economy showing a populist appearance. In the current situation, it would be wise to limit the size of the budget to 17 trillion rupees.

Bhanu Prasad Acharya

We can no longer bear this loottantra.

Rajendra Lingden

To save the nation: Abandon the national assembly; abandon provincial structures; manage only one MP from one district; suspend unnecessary constitutional commissions; suspend district coordination committee; end the practice of assigning advisors and personal secretaries; reduce the number of local bodies to 351; introduce the provision of directly elected prime minister; introduce only ten ministries with ten ministers; cancel all the “deputy” posts;

Narendra Bikram Chand

There is Ramrajya (good governance) just for those followers of republicanism. The fact is that the country is burning and those republicans are celebrating the occasion.

Dipak Poudel

Because of the Maoists, the country has been pushed back for decades. Despite losing the trust of the people, the conflict between the Congress and the UML is the result of the Maoists enjoying power.

Lokesh Dhakal

Due to the wildfires forests have been destroyed and we are suffering from air pollution. People’s lives have become unstable due to forest fires all over the country, but the government has put oil in its ears. There is a need to establish a separate organ to control forest fires.
