Establishing new record

BABBLES

By Babbler

Nepal is establishing one after another record in negative things. Now, Kathmandu is the world’s most polluted city. Last week, reports stated that there was forest firing in above 350 places, which is also a new record. Forest fires, burning tyres by brick factories and excessive use of diesel are the reasons for the incline in air pollution. Besides, polluted air coming from India is also one of the reasons for air pollution.

The air pollution level is hazardous to health, yet, the government seems unaware about it. The government should have made efforts to reduce the air pollution level by different means. Also, by introducing a strong law against forest fires, the government could curb such incidents.

Due to the dry weather, houses are being burnt and people are dying. The government and those who are harnessing natural resources are also responsible for this. The government could encourage local governments to construct water ponds, which could recharge the groundwater and also water could be used to control house burning incidents. Unfortunately, the local bodies are reluctant to purchase fire brigades.

During the winter season, people die from the cold wave and during the summer season, people lose property and lives from fire. These are the calamities that take place every year due to the negligence of the federal, provincial, and local governments. Why the government, local bodies and other organs are not serious about reducing casualties with necessary preparation, is sad.

TikTok ban

Was it necessary to ban TikTok at a time when other social networks are in operation freely? Nevertheless, this ban is related to politics. The present political leaders are trying to become close to the West as well as the South. As TikTok is a social entertainment site developed by China, the ban is related to the Indo-Pacific Strategy, which is understandable.

And to what extent the court is operating in a free manner, that also can be understood from keeping pending the TikTok case. Otherwise, when TikTok is ready to obey Nepal’s rules and regulations, and even ready to pay tax, why the government is continuing to ban it?

Setting in courts?

An audio clipping was made public by a television network alleging the involvement of publishers of the Kantipur Media Group and also the Annapurna Media Network in setting up a network to influence corruption-related cases.

Now, the victims have filed a case in the court against decrementing such false propaganda demanding action on the charge of contempt of court.

Earlier too, we were told about Kailash Sirohia’s influence in the court setting. Also, Ajaya Sumargi had publicly blamed Sirohiya was demanding money and when Sumargi refused to give money, Sirohiya started writing negative news against Sumargi.

Decades ago, one sitting minister, Balbahadur KC, was defamed as a Parkhal Mantri (who was alleged to have jumped a compound wall to meet his girlfriend). KC later said that Sirohiya had asked him to reward the construction contract and when the minister denied it, the entire KMG media started to produce negative news against him.

Perhaps, Sirohiya is above the law, and, perhaps, Sirohiya knows the strength of media!

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

No one respects those who cannot stand up for their own national interests.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

If you make your garden beautiful, you don’t have to look for bees, they will come by themselves! If you create an investment environment, you don’t need to look for investors, they will be attracted by themselves.

Madhu Raman Acharya

After the Parliament almost unanimously claimed that the territory up to Limpiyadhura belonged to Nepal and even produced a map, we formed a task force and sent it abroad to collect evidence that these territories belonged to us.

The important report was submitted by the task force to the government and the government must have made it public. Has anybody read it?

Keshav P. Bhattarai

After enjoying salaries and allowances from the blood and sweat of the poor people, the minister should work for the country and the people regularly from 10 am to 5 pm. Sometimes they are found attending the election campaign blaming other opponents and doing party work. Are they doing justice?

RC Adhikari

No matter how much you shout, Alam has burned people and Resham has killed security personnel. Prachand has scammed money from militants. Oli has committed corruption in Gokarna Forest and Giribandhu. Makune and Baburam have embezzled the land of Lalita Nibas.

Purushottam Dhungel

In the neo-colonial environment of Nepal, it is clear that the monarchy played a more progressive role than the republicans.

Bharat Dahal

This is not a constitution written by the Nepali people. This constitution should be repealed. There is no other way out.
