Electricity to be exported to Bangladesh from this fiscal year: PM Prachanda

Kathmandu, April 29: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that 40 MW of electricity would be exported to Bangladesh from this fiscal year by signing a tripartite energy trade agreement between the energy-related agencies of Nepal, India, and Bangladesh.

Inaugurating Marsyangdi-Kathmandu 220 kV double circuit transmission line and 220 kV Matatirtha Substation on Sunday, Prime Minister Dahal said the initial agreement on long-term power trade signed during his visit to India last year had ensured the market.

A final agreement has already been signed to give shape to the preliminary agreement. I believe this will be another important and historic step for Nepal’s hydropower development and market assurance,” he said. This will expand Nepal’s hydropower market.

Stating that an agreement has already been reached with China to build the Chilime-Kerung Transmission Line to connect the market access of electricity, PM Dahal said that the mechanisms of the two countries are doing necessary work for this.
