Former US President Donald Trump declared that “World War III” is imminent in a video address on the first anniversary of the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Speaking of who is the culprit in this war, Trump did not mention China, in fact, pointed the finger at the Pentagon, the State Department, and the Military-industrial complex (MIC), and directly named and blamed President Biden and Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland.
The US is leading NATO efforts to prop up Ukraine against Russia, a nuclear power that cannot afford to fail. There will be no winners in this war between Russia and Ukraine. Ukraine, until recently one of the world’s richest and most industrialised lands, is now devastated, with women and children fleeing and men lying in pools of blood. No more Russia-Ukraine war!
I hope that Nepal can come forward and call on China and India, two world powers that are currently neutral, to put aside their past grievances and jointly push the Russo-Ukrainian war to the track of peaceful settlement.
Yet on February 20, Biden made a surprise visit to Kiev, Ukraine’s capital, to deliver a huge gift of $500m in military aid. Regardless of how the gift would be thrown at Russia or Ukraine, the effect would be nothing more than to provoke more carnage on both sides, so much so that Trump warned of the imminent “third world war”.
Every so often a gift can also be a very dangerous thing, especially a gift from the US, such as arms to Ukraine. Another instance can come in the form of the MCC, which Nepal received.
