Another side of the coin

BABBLES

By Babbler

This Babbler read one piece by Ramesh Kumar that the country has made remarkable achievements after the 1990 era. The writer has also produced static figures on the development of the country in different sectors.

Maybe, the writer is correct, however, this Babbler believes that economically, we were in a better position than today. Nepal was ahead of China in GDP. Compared to the Thai Bhat, one unit of Nepali currency could purchase two units of Thai currency. Nepal was in a position of exporting food grains to South Korea. Nepal was able to employ Nepali youths within the country. Now, around or above ten million population have gone abroad for a job. Also, students are leaving the country for further study in foreign countries. Shouldn’t we evaluate these issues while talking about “remarkable achievements”? Perhaps, the fake Bhutanese refugee scam is enough to understand Nepali economics.

Nepal without Army?

Nepal’s domestic economy started to become weak since 1990 when those youths who returned from the Western countries became finance ministers and introduced their “liberalization theory”. They believed that a nation should not do business and should not run industries. Since the disposal of the government-run industries, the political leaders became multibillionaires and commission practices were institutionalized.

Swornim Wagle is also a West return leader. He is of the view that the nation can save an enormous amount of money by disposing of the Nepal Army. A Nepali national cannot think about the disposal of the Nepal Army but Wagle can. But Wagle cannot speak for declaring Nepal a zone of peace. Perhaps, these are the hidden goals of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.

Land border is open but not the sky

The Indians have maintained a unique type of relationship with Nepal. Against the Nepali people’s interests, India has kept open the Nepal-India border. Keeping opened border is equally harmful to India as not only smuggling trade but also criminal and terrorist activities may take place.

For a landlocked country, hassle-free access to the sea and sky is a fundamental right. But India is denying additional entry air routes for Nepal. The Indian intention is to curtail Nepal’s direct access to third countries. India is always against the construction of international airports in Nepal. A section of Indian-paid people is against the construction of the Nijgadh International Airport. They are saying that at a time when the nation is unable to bring into commercial operation of the Bhairahawa and Pokhara airports, why should the nation construct another airport in Nijgadh?

Just to recall history, India was against the establishment of the Royal Nepal Airlines Corporation. Viewing the importance of the national flag carrier for a landlocked country, RNAC was established. The first lot of staffers were sent to Pakistan for training, not to India as the King had understood the Indian intention.

There was a plan for upgrading the Biratnagar Airport to a regional international airport with the plan of operating cross-border flights to the Indian cities but Indians penetrated government officials the airport expansion project has already been scrapped.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

The recent order of the Supreme Court regarding citizenship has set precedence due to which the country itself is in danger. Each House of Representatives is sovereign in itself. The incomplete tasks of the HoR will be expired along with the end of the HoR tenure.

The new HoR is not responsible for taking ownership of the tasks of the previous HoR remained incomplete.

The recent order of the Supreme Court has created the obligation of the old HoR already replaced by the new one.

In future, taking the same example, if the government will pass a bill to transfer the country’s foreign affairs, defense or the country itself to another country before the election and submit it to the president, even if it is not approved by the incumbent president, the new president can approve the decision made by the previous parliament.

Dwarika Nath Dhungel

In the year 2008 BS Bhadrakali Mishra said that the Indian army is there for our security. He had proposed to downsize the Nepali army. Now, a member of parliament has said that the number of Nepalese Army should be reduced and the number of provinces should be increased.

An army is a part of a free and sovereign state.

Some people say that our army is not able to fight with India and China, so what could be the significance of the army without a duty? Army size is not the only deciding factor. Nowhere in the world war will take place at once with atomic weapons. Such heavy weapons are used only after many stages of foot warfare. Even if a country with a small army like ours can hold off any attack for some time, the country can be saved with the help of the country or countries that want to help us. If there is no army, there is no question of survival.

Also, the army is not only needed for external wars but also internal purposes in some situations.

Army reduction in Nepal can be conditional. In the model of Israel, a small but well-equipped army and a mass militia for its support with mandatory military training for every youth who has passed 12th grade.

But does our open border with India give permission? Or if our trained young people go to the Gulf countries and Malaysia, it becomes meaningless. If the army is not to be kept, Nepal should be recognized as the Zone of Peace by the world community and the United Nations. Otherwise, to cut the army size or dismantle this organisation without any such options is either gross ignorance or ill-intentioned.

The day the Chief Justice became the government head, the value of the court ended. The day the court judges started to visit the party leaders’ house/party offices, the court’s honor ended.

The day the judges of the court took the oath of office as party workers and took part in the quota of the party, the value of the court ended.

The day the court did not protest the so-called impeachment motion for political interests, the court’s dignity ended.

On the day the Supreme Court judges raised the issue of the boycott of the bench, the value of the court ended.

The day when the Chief Justice had to hide and run away to sit on the chair because of the fear of the protest of the advocates inside the Supreme Court in the forbidden area, the value of the court ended.

The court, which is sleeping on the pillow of big corruption cases involving big leaders for years, has repeatedly lost its reputation.

Mayor Balen contempt the court which doesn’t respect the country’s honor and dignity, sovereignty and independence.

If Nepali cinema is not allowed to be shown in India, allowing screening of the Indian cinema in Nepal is cultural colonization.

But the state is indifferent to the various colonization acts done by India.

Ratna Sansar Shrestha Nepali

The theoretical foundation of the 12-point Delhi agreement is to accept foreign ownership of Nepal’s internal affairs.

Bharat Dahal

If Mayor Balen Shah will display Khukuri (knife) at the court, the people will rejoice like audiences at a concert. The main reason why the psychology of the people is becoming terrible is the lack of trust in the overall system of the state. The root of this mistrust is the parties that have been dominating central politics for 3 decades.

Ranjit Tamang

In a country where judges and chief justices are sold; in a country where judges are corrupt; in a country where courts are held hostage, it is not necessary to obey the court’s decision. The Council of Ministers has disobeyed the court’s order but should others obey? It is contempt of the court to release the murderer through the President’s order.

Purushottam Dhungel

The main thing is that the judge belonging to which party has given the verdict.

Another form of party office of political parties is the courts of Nepal. There is a possibility that peace will be disturbed in this country due to the orders of the leaders and the judges who carry the bags of foreigners.

The security agencies have to be alert in time. Like all the judges were abolished in Rwanda in 2005, it is too late to do it in Nepal.

In 2052 BS, before starting the violent movement, Baburam submitted a list of 40 demands to Prime Minister Deuba.

Among them, the first 10, banning Indian movies was also included. If Baburam Bhattarai would reveal the reality, it would be easy to ease the present situation.

Dhruba H. Adhikary

Prachanda had started the practice of disobeying the court. The UML and Nepali Congress have also disobeyed the court.

They should not feel odd when Balen Shah did the same!

Ramesh Kandel

The scriptwriter of the film Adipurush himself has said that till 1903/4, Nepal was under the rule of India, so Sita is the daughter of India. Why allow a film that attacks our nationality? Is national and self-respect also determined by the court’s decision? Balen did the right thing.

Bishworsingh Mewahang

The system which is good for Nepalis is the best system for Nepalis.

King Mahendra

If a person talks about social justice, favors federalism, opposes big physical infrastructure, and seeks equal rights in citizenship, then he has taken money from a foreigner for that and the tweet he writes is written to please the foreigner.
