BABBLES
By Babbler
This time we saw a tuff polarization in the presidential election. Political parties as well as the foreign power centers became active to get a president friendly towards them. We saw a big jolt in domestic politics as the ruling alliance has been broken within two months and a new eight-party alliance has been forged to run the government.
Why the political parties wanted a president friendly towards them and why the foreign power centers wanted a president friendly towards them, is clear. If there is a comfortable prime minister and a comfortable head of the nation, the foreign power centers can serve their interests very easily. It makes clear that our prime minister is very much comfortable with the Indo-West lobby in Nepal. It is almost sure that Ramchandra Paudel is going to be elected to the post of President. He seems keen to serve the Indo-West lobby in Nepal. NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba is already a well-known leader who represents the Indo-West lobby rather than the motherland and the Nepali people.
Clearly, these leaders are on sale. If there was the institution of monarchy, the institution would have never compromised with foreign powers against the greater interests of the country.
Viewing the present nacked games of the political leaders in the country, many intellectuals have expressed utter dissatisfaction against them and expressed their views for the restoration of the institution of monarchy as head of state. Of course, the leaders of the day cannot save national sovereignty.
A country of holidays
Perhaps, Nepal is the only country having a larger number of national holidays. Since the introduction of “loktantra” we have been enjoying holidays during every big and small festival and also on different occasions for different ethnic communities.
Holiday means a non-working day and also killing time by sleeping during the day time or playing cards with friends to pass the time.
This is an effort to keep the nation in the less developed countries’ category permanently. There are many challenges including improving the national economy but the political leaders have no vision on this side. They are happy to declare a holiday to please small ethnic communities.
Ramchandra Paudel
By next week, we will get a new President and he could be Ramchandra Paudel. Who is Paudel, we all know better. He is one of the Indian confidant leaders who hate China by heart.
When Paudel was a student leader, an exhibition was taken place at the Exhibition Center in Bhrukuti Mandap, Kathmandu. China had also kept a stall informing about the New China. A group led by Paudel had vandalized that stall, which became big news as Radio Peking condemned the incident.
Now, we are going to get the same person as President who wanted to defame China when he was a student leader!
Nepali politics and prostitution
Politics is based on a political principle and followers abided by their personal beliefs and ethics. Unfortunately, the present Nepali politics is not abided by the party principle and political leaders are not abided by their personal beliefs and ethics.
Some observers compared Nepali politics with prostitution. Meanwhile, some others have remarked that prostitutes also abided by some ethics but the Nepali politics is worst than prostitution. Perhaps, it is correct.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
- Firstly, foreigners recommended a list of potential presidents. Secondly, foreigners asked whom are we making president. Thirdly, the foreigners came to warn naming whom to make the President.
Nepal cannot rise until such anomalies are not eradicated from the roots. Nepal has reached a critical stage of the crisis. Let’s all proceed with caution.
Bharat Dahal
- News: Congress and Maoist agree to revive the old alliance.
Me: One may revive the dead ‘agreement’ at any time. But how do we revive the faith of the dead country and citizens? They are the incarnations of individualism, power-greedy and instability!
Muma Ram Khanal
- An acquaintance asked me: What has your ministry done to manage climate change?
Me: Seminars, meetings, conferences and reports. Because we are not the cause of climate change and this is our ability.
Madhu Ghimire
- The main opposition party comes to support the government, and Prime Minister Prachanda names the presidential candidate together with the opposition party. Oli who is in the ruling alliance names the next candidate as if he is in opposition. Who is the presidential candidate of which party? How the world laughing at us! What type of republicanism have we imported?
Dwarika Nath Dhungel
- Why do only three leaders become the prime minister turn by turn?
According to the trust, the power should be proportionally distributed among the eight parties.
It may also be a unique gift to world democracy:
Congress 32 months; Maoist 12 months; JSP 132 days; US 110 days; Janamat 66 days; LSP 44 days; Nagarik Unmukti 44 days
and Jana Morcha 11 days!
The facilities of the former prime ministers should also be increased.
Nilamber Acharya
- My understandings while remaining in the government for a short time:
Leaders have spoiled the nation more than civil servicemen; the country is in dire straits economically and geopolitically; civil society is more negative than necessary; the country can be built and will be built.
Rajendra Lingden
- In Nepal, 36,105 people’s representatives take monthly salaries and allowances. There are also 40 thousand of political appointments such as personal aides, and political appointments in different commissions and organizations. Only 240,000 industries have been registered. The nation’s revenue is 578 billion rupees, whereas, expenditure is 730 billion rupees. Total development expenditure is just 72 billion rupees.
We cannot rescue the economy without reducing expenditures.
Govind Raj Pokharel
- This political system has not been introduced to open new industries, increase production and provide job opportunities to the youth.
It is for exploiting the state coffer by political leaders and feeding party cadres and prolonging their tenure.
This is thus neo-feudalism.
Dipak Gyawali
- The number of people’s representatives enjoying salary and allowances has become accessively huge. With such a system, the country may economically collapse. Restructuring is necessary. Let’s reduce the number of people’s representatives who get salaries and allowances to a minimum.
Nirmalmani Adhikari
- When you vote for those corrupt leaders, why are you crying now saying that they sold away the country? If this system is not changed, one day, Nepal’s name will remain only in history only.
Jeevan Shrestha
- The campaign for one village one Church within seven years is a serious issue. The leaders are not serious about the situation.
The Christian mission is not only a matter of general concern, it should be taken seriously by the government also. This is an open attack on the country’s identity, religion and culture.
