Practicing “socialism”?

BABBLES

By Babbler

The Nepal Oil Corporation, a government undertaking, has again hiked the price of petroleum products by 10 rupees per litre on petrol, diesel kerosene and aviation fuel (domestic). Likewise, the price of cooking gas has been increased by Rs 200 per cylinder. With the new price list, petrol will cost Rs 180 per litre and Rs 163 per litre for diesel and kerosene while Rs 166 per litre for domestic aviation fuel. The NOC on May 14 had increased the prices of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs 10 per litre.

The government, for our readers’ kind information, is collecting 63.25 rupees worth tax on different titles such as road repair, pollution control, price adjustment, physical infrastructure development, etc.. Whether the government is properly utilizing the collected tax revenue, we don’t know. But the government is reluctant in cutting down the tax amount to control the price hike.

Normally, as a business code of conduct, taking profit worth 10 percent is the general practice but the government is taking almost 50 percent profit on petroleum products. On the other hand, the Oil corporation is facing billions of rupees worth of loss every month. Squeezing the consumers is the way the government is practicing “socialism”.

An ambassador’s job?

The proposed ambassador to China, sharing the plan about his role if assigned ambassador, said to the Parliament Hearing Committee that he would make efforts for China’s membership in the South Asian Regional Cooperation (SAARC). It is ridiculous but the Parliament Hearing Committee approved his name as the ambassador. If such people will serve as the nation’s ambassadors to the foreign countries, what can we expect from them!

In the “loktantrik” era, the ambassadorial position is granted as a reward by the government/political parties for spending a luxurious retired life for the leaders’ dearer ones in the capital of foreign countries. So nice!

 QUOTES OF THE WEEK

  • No wonder, the alliance is the strategy or plan of action of the RAW. It is not Deuba’s interest but a compulsion for an alliance. He is not allowed to leave the Maoist Center.

  • In the Australian election, the vote count was completed within five hours of the voting. After his party lost the election, the current Prime Minister Scott Morrison not only resigned from the post of Prime Minister but also announced his resignation from the post of party leader. When will we get such a culture in Nepal?

The proposal to declare Nepal a “zone of peace” should be taken forward again.

  • The victory of “Balen”, which is being ensured, clearly represents the people’s expectations from Nepali politics. If Balen could translate his victory into the beginning of organized politics from a small range of independent candidates, he could make a miraculous interference in the upcoming federal election.

  • The futility of current politics has so far been manifested in state exploitation, corruption and inaction.

At present, the worst level of incompetence is emerging in relation to geopolitics and foreign affairs.

Extreme negligence of the government towards the future of the nation! The process of leading the nation on the path of ruin continues.

  • I wonder how much Nirmal Lama, who was protesting so loudly, shouting “American imperialism” in front of the United States, would have cried if he had seen the role of the Maoists in present-day Nepal! How naked Nepal’s left elements have become!

  • The era between 2021-2028 BS was the era of rapid development in Nepal; the process of development continued until 2035 BS. From 2036 to 2045 BS, some pro-Palace and Mandale people ruled the country. Now, for three decades since 2046 BS, the most dangerous multi-party anti-national Mandales have ruled the country and development has become the sweet of the winds!

  • Let’s dismiss the provinces; limit ministries to 15; limit MPs in the federal parliament to 100; dismiss National Assembly; introduce no work no pay to MPs and ministers; trim the civil service organisation; reduce the facilities of past and present office bearers and VIPs; give budget priorities in education, health and agriculture; dismiss all constitutional commissions! Let’s do something.

  • Are we begging for trouble? Absolutely uncalled for!

  • In cities like Kathmandu/Dhangadhi/Dharan, the votes received by independent candidates are disgusting towards the candidates, working style, conduct and behavior of the political parties. The parties should not be proud that the votes received at the ward level are the popular opinion! That was a limited choice for the people. There is a true opportunity, there is consciousness!
