Partisan ambassadors

BABBLES

By Babbler

Those ambassadors assigned under the Nepali Congress quota assigned by the previous alliance government led by Pushpakamal Dahal have been recalled by the present coalition government. Appointment of the ambassadors based on political sharing is a wrong practice. Those who get such political assignments should be prepared for their return along with a change in the government. However, those incapable party workers are ready to go to foreign countries with the status of an ambassador even if it is for a very short period but the nation suffers financially as well as diplomatically. It would be better if ended the practice of assigning ambassadors through political sharing. Since we adopted multiparty democracy, political appointments are not positions getting at free of cost. There will be a bidding and those candidates have to pay cash in advance to get any of the political appointments. According to recent practice, an ambassadorial post for Austrilya like country is priced at 60 million rupees, which also should be paid in advance. Surprisingly, our people are ready to get such appointments even by paying cash or say commission in advance. This is the beauty of “loktantra”!

PM Dahal in the Nepali team’s jersey

The Prime Minister’s Secretariat posted a photograph of PM Pushpakamal Dahal watching the cricket match between South Africa and Nepal while wearing the Nepali team’s jersey on social media. That was a photo session exhibiting PM Dahal’s sympathy for the Nepali team. Nevertheless, we saw verities of comments including a comment that the PM should have encouraged the sports sector by managing the necessary budget instead of wearing the Nepali team’s jersey! This is true.

NDI in Parliament

How INGOs are manipulating our Parliament members, an example is the tiffin served by the NDI (National Democratic Institute), an American INGO active in Nepal. The INGO was serving tiffin at the meeting of the State Management and Good Governance chaired by Ramhari Khatiwada, an NC MP.

The committee members were surprised to see expensive tiffin served at the committee meeting. Later, it was confirmed that two members from the INGO were also present and the meeting was adjourned immediately.

It is said that the INGO wanted to influence the committee while drafting a bill on civil servicemen.

Different INGOs are active in Parliament by managing foreign trips and also providing other benefits for drafting bills in favour of them.

Such INGOs are not only active in Parliament but also in the judicial sector and other important organs. Considering their suspicious activities, the Nepal government should dare to tell them to go back to their own countries.

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

Necessary infrastructure has not been developed to distribute standard electricity within the country, they are preparing infrastructure to sell electricity cheaply to India with a grant of 40 crores from MCC.

New Delhi is unlikely to listen to Kathmandu as long as Nepal is governed by politicians who are known for their incompetence, greediness and spinelessness. This was the gist of arguments by ex-minister Deepkumar Upadhyay at the Nepal Council of World Affairs interaction last week.

One day everyone must die, dear sir, you won the election, no one can win death! Live and work for future generations!

Balen Shah

What is the reason to remember the defeated British army captain Kinlock rather than Vanshu Gurung, the leader of the Nepal Army who defeated the English Army in the battle of Sindhuligarhi?

Remove the parliamentary system! Let’s speed up the process of Sikkimization of the country by introducing a system of directly elected executive head!

Today, 77 million people do not have access to electricity and nearly 2 billion tons of waste is generated every day in the globe. The solution to both problems is a waste-to-energy power plant. It is necessary to develop the technology to trap the methane gas released from the waste and the carbon released from it. There are over 500 waste-to-energy plants in Europe and over 300 in China.

Unnecessary expenses, financial burden, duplication of expenditure in the province level have been heard in discussions. The benefit of diverting the province’s budget to other areas is a matter of debate. The argument that the role of the local level could not be strengthened due to the distribution of attention, budget, etc. due to the province, the influence was weakened, and there was trouble/difficulty at the level is not less strong.

Sagun Lawoti

The total budget for the provinces amounts 3 trillion rupees. Most of the budget will be spent for provincial ministers, parliaments, employees and dozens of useless departments/organizations.

Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane said, “I am in the government but the government is run by others.”

Ex-DPM Upendra Yadav said, “The country is run by the RAW and the CIA”.

Ex-PM Baburam Bhattarai said, “The key to running the country is elsewhere.”

Despite that, the tendency to stay in the government at any cost is surprising.

NGO serving tiffin for parliamentarians at the State Management and Good Governance Committee meeting is a national shame! The chairman of the committee, Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada, is only responsible or the Nepali Congress is also responsible for such an act? Shame on you Nepali Congress friends!
