Upendra Yadav’s party splits

Kathmandu, May 6: The Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSP-N), an alliance partner in the ruling coalition, has faced a split.

Ashok Rai, a senior leader of the Party, announced a split in the party at a time when its chairman and DPM and Health Minister Upendra Yadav is on a visit to the US.

Rai, new chairman of the splinter party, claimed that seven MPs are sided with him.

Rai’s faction has applied for registration of the “Janata Samajwadi Party,” removing ‘Nepal’ from its mother party.

Rai has blamed Yadav for performing monopoly neglecting the organization.

The Rai faction has informed that although the party has split, his faction will continue support to the alliance government.

According to reports, Upendra Yadav, who was unhappy with the present coalition government, was planning to disassociate with the present alliance led by PM Pushpakamal Dahal.

The Ekakrit Samajwadi Party led by Madhav Nepal and JSPN led by Yadav were trying to develop an NC-led coalition government, sources claim.

After the split in JSP, even if ESP led by Nepal and JSP led by Yadav quit the government, the present coalition government will bag a majority in Parliament.

Ashok Kumar Rai, Nawalkishore Sah, Ranju Thakur, Hasina Khan, Birendra Mahato, Sushila Shrestha, and Pradip Yadav comprise the splinter faction of the JSP.
