Kathmandu, August 18: For the first time, electricity from the national transmission grid has reached Gosaikund, a famous pilgrimage site in Rasuwa.
The Nepal Electricity Authority supplied electricity from the national grid to Gosainkunda, which is 4,380 meters above sea level, on Friday. The Gosaikund area has become shimmering with the arrival of lights.
Kulman Ghising, executive director of the authority, informed that the electricity of the national transmission line has been supplied to the religious and tourist destination Gosainkunda on the eve of the Janai Purnima fair.
He said that as part of the campaign to light up the religious and tourist areas, the electricity of the national transmission line was supplied to Gosainkunda.
The national grid had already supplied electricity to Chandanbari on the road to Gosainkunda. About 8 km from Chandanbari, 11 KV line has been taken to Gosainkunda through the Langtang National Park area.
