BABBLES

By Babbler
Noted economist and senior RPP leader Dr Prakashchandra Lohani said that an organized political loot is on in Nepal. Due to the rampant loot, a small group of corrupt political leaders are becoming billionaire, whereas, the general public are becoming poorer and poorer day by day.
The government practising kleptocracy is collecting 22 percent tax from its citizens, which is more than double in the entire region including India and Bangladesh. India has imposed a tax worth 12 percent and Bangladesh imposed a tax worth only 10 percent. Both countries are able to manage enough funds for capital investment but even collecting 22 percent tax from the citizens, Nepal faces an acute shortage of capital investment funding. Such a situation has occurred due to the organized loot practised by the political leaders, Lohani said.
Lohani said further, our leaders running around the musical chair know better that money empowers them to the chair and the chair provides an ample opportunity to earn money. Who cares about the nation’s prosperity and citizens’ happiness?
Perhaps, this Babbler doesn’t need to speak further!
Downplaying with China?
We could see less reporting about Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav’s formal visit to Kunming, China. Powerful Chinese leader, politburo member and Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid a courtesy call to the visiting Nepal’s VP, we could hardly read the reports about the meeting in the mainstream media.
In fact, where was our VP and how was the visit, we are unaware. Isn’t this an attempt to downplay Nepal-China relations by those “12 brothers” media run by the Indo-West funding?
Scarcity of students in higher education!
The country’s situation has become very hopeless since Nepal adopted federalism. All are willing to go abroad, if possible. Particularly, Nepali youths aim to go abroad to ensure their future – quality education and attractive job. Now, the reality is that there are no students in colleges and universities providing higher education and if such a trend will continue, surely, they will shut down soon.
The main goal of the Nepali youths is to pass the plus two examinations and go abroad for higher education along with an attractive job.
To stop such a practice, partisan political activities should be stopped in colleges and universities, students should get job opportunities while continuing in their colleges and quality education should be guaranteed.
The People’s Review Weekly reported a lot about the political intervention-free education developing Nepal into an educational hub so that foreign students could be attracted. Along with the arrival of foreign students, the country will earn foreign currency. Accordingly, if Nepal is developed as a medical hub, medical tourists could be attracted alike in Thailand. But our political leadership has no time to think about it except for making money either disposing the government property or developing and patronizing the gold smuggling network!
A big joke!
NC general secretary Dhanraj Gurung is continuously lauded for conducting property investigations on all the political leaders. It seems a big joke for people like us. Corruption, commission, smuggling and irregularities have been protected by those top leaders of the parties frequently enjoying power. Gurung’s party chief Sher Bahadur Deuba and his spouse Arju Rana Deuba are the ringmaster of corruption. Accordingly, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has publicly committed how his party had manipulated the fund allotted for the Maoist PLAs. His colleague Baburam Bhattarai blamed Dahal manipulated billions of rupees while settling the PLAs after the comprehensive peace agreement.
UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli claims to be a clean person but he made disappear the 33 kg gold smuggling report.
Viewing all these scenarios, how could NC general secretary Gurung speak about investigating the property of all the leaders?
Maybe, he is joking!
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
In the USA, too, the government collects taxes, like in our country. The difference is that the government provides more services than the tax amount. Contrary to this, in our country, the government squeeze the taxpayers and the leaders loot the government treasury.

Is there any area where there is no corruption in Nepal? After all, in a country where one can buy citizenship so easily, there is everything on sale. Even if there is manipulation in the distribution of the social security allowance, you can get it by producing a list of those people who have already dead. Loot, as much as you can!

The drama staged by those in the Koshi Province has given the message that “federalism is not okay” and “federalism is not needed”.

This provincial structure does not work. Reengineering should be done. The debate is overdue.
10 years is a long time to experience. We can’t wait our whole life for it.
Diness Kazi
In a small country like Nepal, there is no need or justification for the provincial structure. People’s anger towards the provincial structure and parties is increasing. Moreover, looking at the increasing number of ministries and ministers and increasing the government expenditure just to retain the government is not justifiable. There is no alternative to abolishing the provincial structure.

No matter how sweet is the speech, without movement, neither this situation nor this system will bring a change in the country!

Gold has been smuggled. Fake refugees have been sent. Lalitaniwas land has been taken by the ministers and prime ministers. After the police have honestly identified the criminals, it is a big crime to transfer them and try to give the criminals immunity. Today they have been able to protect the criminals. What will happen tomorrow when the people start searching for the criminals?

For more than 3 months Manipur has been witnessing violent ethnic conflict where the minority Kuki-Zomi tribal people have been subjected to a pogrom of ethnic cleansing by d majority Meitei groups. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not lifted a finger to stop it.
Why?

The nation is choking due to inconsistency in every field including development, employment, production, education, and diplomacy. The credibility of all organs of the state has reached an abyss. Most of the youth have stopped seeing their future in Nepal.

The investigation team of the Lalita Niwas case finally is not able to catch big fish. It was futile to hope that the body under the executive branch would conduct an impartial investigation. As George Orwell said, ‘All animals are equal, but some are more equal’.

During the reign of King Mahendra, there was such a development wave in Nepal which never happened again. That was a golden era for Nepal.

India will be happy if the Budhigandaki project is constructed just for producing electricity as it will get water free of cost. The government has planned to make India happy. It should not be constructed at the present design.
Bikash Thapa
The present design of the Budhigandaki project is wrong. The project should have been developed based on the irrigation facility. The regulated water can irrigate a 500 square km area around the year in Chitwan. Water can also be used for irrigating around two thousand square km of land in the Rupandehi and Kapilvastu districts.
Dipak Gyawali
The government’s decision to lift land classification to activate the economy is a blunder! The government run by those mafias doesn’t think about increasing production and establishing industries but plotting the agricultural land is in priority!
Mafia employees are never civilians. Foreigners paid people never can think about the motherland. A parasite that survives on commission and bribery is never in favor of development. The religion of brokers is to cheat the nation and please the donors.
Bharat Dahal
You don’t need to do anything else to become a liberal progressive activist in Nepal. To get a certificate of a great many, just condemning Hinduism is enough. Otherwise, defame Prithvi Narayan Shah and Bhanubhakta Acharya. Even then, reprimanding from King Mahendra to national poet Madhav Ghimire is enough.
