We are the silent watcher of the anomalies that are taking place in all sectors. Except for those in the government and those party cadres, a larger section of people belonging to an unorganized sector are against the present political system and the present political leadership. Unfortunately, they are reluctant to come down to the street to protest against the system and the leadership. The very same old leaders are enjoying power turn by turn by developing a syndicate.
The voters tried to revolt against the system and the leadership by electing new faces both in the local elections and also in provincial and federal elections. The emergence of Balen Shah as the mayor of the Kathmandu Metropolis Corporation and the emergence of the Rastriya Swatantra Party is the revolt of the people for a change. However, it seems, the efforts made by the commoners are not enough. They need to come down to the streets to save the nation.
Those unorganized individuals and also those groups divided into different factions must be united and come down to the streets to through away the present system which has benefited a small group of political leaders and exploited the other citizens from all sides.
Entrepreneur Durga Prasain has coordinated a mega campaign for the restoration of the 1990 constitution, which has recognized Nepal as a Hindu Kingdom without a federal structure. We have been continuously lauding that the present political system, which has been imposed by the foreign powers in their own interests, will further ruin this beautiful country. The mega campaign for change should become successful and, for this, all the exploited groups and sectors have to be united and back the campaign at their capacity.
If our political leaders deny realizing the revenue sources of the country which are even unable to meet the general sector expenditure of the budget, very soon Nepal will have to face a severe economic crisis. Many challenges have to be addressed, including providing employment opportunities to our youths and managing a huge fund for infrastructural development. The country lacks the necessary funds for capital expenditure. Reducing the budget in the non-productive sector and increasing the budget for capital expenditure are the two important tasks to be done. The present political structure, which is based on employing those elected representatives doesn’t serve the nation’s greater interests. Therefore the only conclusion is to return to the 1990 constitution.
