Kathmandu, September 12: Ujyaalo Nepal Party Chairman Kulman Ghising has said that many lives were lost because the government failed to carry out the necessary preparedness and management measures at the initial stage of the disaster.
Speaking at a programme held in Lalitpur today, Ghising expressed this view in the context of the Rasuwa floods.
He said that many casualties could have been prevented had preparations and management measures been put in place from the outset and effective steps taken in time.
He said that everyone must stand united to confront the major natural disaster that has struck the country. Ghising also commented that the government had failed to perform as expected following the Gen-Z movement, that frustration among young people was increasing, and that the rate of people going abroad had nearly doubled.
He said policies had been introduced that ignored small farmers while benefiting only large investors. He made it clear that the Ujyaalo Nepal Party would neither merge with any other party nor join forces with any political party, but would move forward as an alternative political force with its own distinct agenda.
He said that, targeting the upcoming local, provincial and federal elections, the party would begin an organisational and membership expansion campaign with a large gathering in Koshi Province and by expanding its organisation from village to village.
