Former King Gyanendra Shah has said that worshipping democracy with words alone will not suffice. He said that work, duty, sacrifice, generosity, politics of integrity, and the right kind of conduct will only lead to the worship of democracy.
In a message to the nation on the occasion of Democracy Day, former King Shah said that public opinion should be responded to. He said that those active in the state system should reflect the rule of law and democratic behavior based on ground reality.
“We are committed to the upliftment of the nation, nationalism, national unity, and the people,” King Gyanendra said.
“On this auspicious occasion of Democracy Day, we wish to remain close to the Nepali people and keep all our doors open for communication,” the King said while extending best wishes to all the Nepalis on the occasion of Democracy Day.
He said that the economy cannot be isolated in a democracy, and he said that all resources, means, and skills should be incorporated.
This is what makes democracy strong, he has remarked.
“Democracy will become fruitful only when everyone can have good food, everyone can live well, everyone can live healthy, peaceful, and satisfied, everyone can have the best education in the country and employment according to everyone’s ability,” said the King.
