Kathmandu, February 17: The probe commission constituted to investigate the killing of two youths in Balkumari handed over its report to Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha on Friday.
After receiving the report, Minister Shrestha said that the government is going to implement the conclusion of the report.
On December 29, two youths were killed by the gunfire opened by the police. The youths were agitated when they were not allowed to attend the EPS (Korean language test) examination.
Birendra Shah of Achham and Sujan Rawat of Dailekh were shot dead in the police firing.
When youths were launching a protest in the street in Balkumari, Minister Prakash Jwala’s vehicle attempted to cross the disturbed area, which resulted in the killing of two youths.
According to a member of the probe commission, Minister Jwala is solely responsible for the accident. Accordingly, the two PSOs deployed for the Minister’s security were also found responsible for the incident.
“The Minister could avoid the disturbed road by taking another route, but he was found neglecting the information provided by the security personnel,” a member of the commission said.
A high-level commission was formed the next day after the incident. The commission was comprised of ex-judge of the High Court Sekhar Prasad Poudel, ex-AIGP Arun Kumar BC and joint secretary in the Home Ministry Narayan Prasad Bhattarai.
