C J warns against pressure

At a time when a writ petition seeking the reinstatement of the dissolved House of Representatives is under consideration of the highest court, Chief Justice Bishwanath Upadhaya has warned against any attempts to influence the decision of the judiciary. While judges in a democracy are taciturn and do not utter remarks as politicians do, the highest judge’s remarks last week at a Nepal Bar Association function. The court and Bar are being construed as meaningful and significant as it helps one to gauge the extent of pressures that have been mounted upon the Supreme Court.
