BABBLES

Until now, a clear picture has not been developed on who will become the new prime minister and which party would lead the government, however, viewing the political developments Sher Bahadur Deuba is likely to continue as the PM as he gets blessings from the South and the West. If foreign powers trust Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, his chance is also high as he is in a race to please the foreign powers. Nepali voters have elected our people’s representatives but who becomes the PM, it is not in the Nepali voters’ hands but in the hand of the foreign powers.
If Prachanda will claim much, at that time, the political equation can be changed. The NC may form the government with the support of the UML. Prachanda is eying for the prime minister’s post for him and also claiming the president’s post for the Maoist Center. On the other hand, Deuba, according to reports, is suggested by his foreign friends to keep the president’s post for the Nepali Congress as it will be easy for him to work with the president from the same party.
Prachanda is saying that still the Maoist Center is kingmaker but the situation can be changed at any time. He has also understood that Nepali politics is not in the hand of the Nepali leaders! Be that as it may, Nepal will get an incapable PM, it is sure.
Race for the president’s post
Who will become the prime minister, has not yet been decided but many leaders have shown interest to become the president.
VP Nandakishor Pun is trying to please Maoist Chair Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda to become the president on the ground that he holds experience. Meanwhile, Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Agni Sapkota have also shown keen interest to become the president.
There is pressure on Sher Bahadur Deuba from outside to reward Mahanta Thakur for the post of the new president. But from inside the party, Ramchandra Poudel is saying that he would support Deuba if the latter will assure the former to reward with the president’s post. Poudel is the candidate for the post of prime minister. Besides, Gann Thapa has wished to challenge Deuba in the party, however, Thapa is seen as weak in front of Deuba. Maybe, Thapa is making efforts for a future prime minister!
From the Unified Socialist Party, Madhav Nepal himself is trying to become the president if not the PM for one year. Nepal has claimed the prime minister’s post just for one year. If he will be unable to become the prime minister even for one year, then, he is in the mood to become the president. Again, another senior leader Jalanath Khanal, who was defeated in the election for the member of the House of Representatives from a constituency in Ilam, is also trying to get the presidential position.
They all are together
The caretaker government has attempted to issue an ordinance giving amnesty to the criminals belonging to the political parties. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is facing criticism from his own party as well as from other sectors but all the leaders representing the present coalition government are together while taking such a decision. UML chair K.P. Sharma Oli is not aloof and unaware of the government’s decision as he had also thought about giving amnesty to the criminals belonging to the political parties. Oli had inked agreements with CK Raut and also with Netrabikram Chand for granting amnesty to those facing jail terms on the charge of committing serious crimes.

The corrupt BAR first appeared in the front, then the court, this institution now became nothing more than an elephant’s tusk.

- What kind of order is this?
The government with a simple majority ‘didn’t like’ the chief justice and filed an impeachment case against him. When the case could not be passed by a two-thirds majority, then they extended the case as much as possible. Still, political leaders are stopping the CJ from going to office saying that the new House of Representatives would look after the case!
Is this the essence of the constitution?

- In Nepal, don-ism has dominated all the sectors — executive, judiciary and legislature! The dons in these organizations should not follow the constitutional rules and laws, sometimes they get along with each other, and sometimes they shoot at each other from an invisible place!

- High interest rates and high inflation rates have become a problem for many countries.
Nepal also has an economic crisis due to this problem.
But if you don’t admit that there is a problem, it will not be solved.

- Instead of giving proportional seats to pseudo-backwards characters like Eknath and Arju, Bimalendra and Prakasharan, the reservation system should be abolished. Let’s not dishonor the country.

If all the parties do not join hands to bring back the 1990 constitution, it is sure that the country will go into an increasingly awkward situation.
Kamala Prasai
- Angela Merkel, former chancellor of Germany, now lives in a small flat. Everyone sees her going to the market and buying goods. In Nepal, it is shameful to see those former leaders still using government security personnel.
