To no one’s surprise, S D Munni, a Jawarharlal Nehru University professor and “Nepal expert” considered close to the powers that be in Delhi, has come out openly in support of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala on the eve of the November 15 parliamentary polls. In an op-ed page article in the Indian establishment daily, The Times of India on October 26, Muni who declares that the “major issue” of the election is “the continuation or removal” of Koirala bemoans that it was “unfortunate” that the top Nepali Congress (NC) leadership decided to humiliate its own government and administer a blow to the infant democratic process.
