On Asoj 3 (September 19), just after the tragic Gen Z demonstration, President Ramchandra Paudel hosted a grand reception to observe the 10th anniversary of the constitution, which now seems to be in deathbed.
However, there was little enthusiasm among the guests attending the ceremony. The entire nation was mourning the death of 74 individuals due to the excessive use of force during the protests. Despite this, outdated political leaders—heavily involved in corruption and rejected by the Gen Z youth—appeared at the event, neglecting the nationwide mourning of September 8.
It is truly sad that these discarded leaders pretended nothing had happened to them. To date, they have shown no remorse for the tragic loss of 74 young lives; instead, they have demonstrated their shamelessness and inhumanity.
Oli Has No Regret
Outgoing Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli, after coming out from the Nepal Army shelter, issued a statement defending his actions in suppressing the Gen Z uprising. He showed no remorse for the killing of 74 energetic youths or for the thousands wounded in the crackdown. He expressed no sympathy for the great loss of lives and property.
Despite demands from his own colleagues for his resignation, Oli is attempting to cling to the party leadership even after committing such a grave mistake that has pushed the country into chaos. Why is the government allowing those responsible for creating discord and sabotaging the Gen Z movement to go unpunished?
Tai, Tai Phish
So far, a total of 74 youths have sacrificed their lives in the September 8 Gen Z uprising. Thousands are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals. The Gen Z group, mostly under 28 years of age, launched widespread protests demanding the disbandment of social platforms and an end to corruption.
The autocratic government led by K.P. Sharma Oli tried to crush the demonstrators with gunfire. Although the autocratic regime has been toppled and a new government formed, those responsible for the killings are trying to re-enter society.
The interim government, which has only a six-month tenure, has failed to take action against the culprits. Furthermore, large sums of money burned in the houses of some leaders have yet to be investigated, and many scandals from the past continue to be suppressed. Why is the government delaying these investigations?
We must take the Gen Z demands seriously. Otherwise, the sacrifices made by the youth will be rendered meaningless, reduced to a mere “Tai, Tai Phish”—a dismissive phrase implying that their efforts are being ignored or trivialized.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
We felt that we had gained fat after the removal of the institution of monarchy; in fact, it was soiling our bodies.
We got a new constitution, due to which today the property of the people has been burnt, the property of the state has been set on fire, the government has collapsed in 24 hours, the names of 74 people have been added to the list of martyrs. Now, let’s raise awareness against the anti-national constitution.
Shambhu Chouhan
The 13-day rituals of youth martyrs had not been completed, but on Asoj 3, the political leaders were gathered at the President’s Office in Sittal Niwas to eat “katto” of martyrs.
Roshan Shiwakoti
What kind of shame is this that leaders can demand immediate action against those who burn down the houses of leaders, public property and party offices, but can’t say that action should be taken against those who killed the youths?
Khusbu Oli
Will there be no need for any media to question the celebration at Sheetal Niwas within a week when the nation suffered such a heavy loss of lives and property?

It is the imported constitution that is ruining the condition of the country. This is a provision under the constitution. Defending this constitution is a crime against the nation. It is an injustice to the future generation and society. The wisdom of today’s era is to destroy the constitution of the ashtray system that has failed the experiment and been burned by the people, and go for a new consensus. This cannot be considered as a system which turned the Singhadwar into ass, and that a handful of middlemen nurtured by the constitution have become kingpins.
Uddhav Raj Bhetuwal
The 2015 constitution is flawed.
We don’t need federalism, secularism, a socialist-oriented system, or a mixed electoral system.
Now let’s issue a new constitution responding to the Gen Z movement.
Parshuram Kaphle
The country should be free of corruption.
Young people should get opportunities within the country.
Weren’t these the Gen Z demands?
But we got an early election!
How will an ‘early election’ fulfil demands of ‘Gen-Z’?
Surya Raj Acharya
The only safe landing for the nation is to return to the 1990 constitution.
Apil Gurung
With blood in their mouths, wolves are attempting to raise their heads. They are preparing to hunt others. They killed 71 individuals, but they have no regret. Be aware, they are hatching a new conspiracy.
Sudin Pokharel
Many days have passed since the Gen Z uprising, but the main leadership of the old party still doesn’t seem to wake up – no apologies, no resignations!
Even at the political party, if Gen Z and the younger generation did not revolt, there is no possibility of reorganization and transformation!
Geja Sharma Wagle
When Ramchandra Paudel reached Kishinjee with the party’s republican agenda, the latter insulted Paudel by bending down. Kishunji then quit the Congress after the party removed the monarchy agenda.
