BABBLES

By Babbler

As the government has failed to receive targeted revenue, since the first month of the current fiscal year, it is managing funds by taking debts. Now, the government is collecting debt just to pay back installments and interest on the old debts.

In the current fiscal year, the public debt burden has reached 23 trillion, 83 billion, and 770 million rupees. Alarmingly, the volume of public debt has doubled in the past five years. The public debt should be used in the development sector, however, the expenditure scenario is that the government has spent five trillion rupees as general sector expenditure, whereas, the development sector expenditure is just 63 billion rupees.

The above economic performance indicates the ill-health of the economy.

The government is under pressure to reduce general sector expenditure, which could be done by scrapping the provincial structure and also reducing the size of the federal parliament.

Real face of loktantra

We are aware of the lifestyles of the prime minister and former prime ministers, ministers, and other high-ranking leaders.

Once, Maoist Center Chairman Pushpakamal Dahal said that he takes a non-vegetarian lunch in the morning and a vegetarian dinner in the evening. What do the commoners eat for their meals?

The government is paying pensions for certain political figures after their retirement. There are two former presidents and two former VPs. They are also receiving pensions and other allowances from the government coffer.

The government is spending millions of rupees on feeding them. Moreover, the government has quietly increased the facilities and allowances of these retired politicians.

Meanwhile, we are aware that many people in the earthquake hit districts of Jajarkot, West Rukum, and the nearby areas, are compelled to spend cold nights in winter under thin tents, and many of them have been reported to be dead due to the cold.

We are aware that many people in villages are dying without getting a tablet of cetamol. Contradictingly, on the other hand, those people’s representatives are enjoying a luxury life in Kathmandu. Alas, this is “loktantra” (sovereign people)!

My country, my pride!

Thousands of loan-shark victims are reaching Kathmandu by walking on foot from Mechi and Mahakali to knock on the door of the rulers in Singhadurwar.

The government formed commissions, and the commissions have already submitted their reports along with ways to resolve problems.

The government is seen as reluctant to implement these reports. The fact is that the government doesn’t want to solve the problem, as loan sharks are powerful and influential.

Perhaps this is the definition of socialism!

QUOTES OF THE WEEK

This system punishes only peons and low-ranking officials and protects the decision-making and profit-making leaders.

Dipak Gyawali

It would be more significant if the name of the Nepali Congress was changed to “Lauda Air Party”!

Narendra Bikram Chand

What is an “offensive move”, SD Muni has defined it clearly it is a surrender to India by Prachanda and Baburam. Still, they claim that they brought republicanism to Nepal!

Sagun Lawoti

The country is in a crisis of existence. The country is now parentless.

Prakash Koirala

Real democracy will come at that time when travelling with a Nepalese passport, one will not be taken to the corner and grilled. Real democracy will not come without being economically and socially strong.

Dipak Poudyal

Republicanism, secularism, and federalism were imposed without the consent of the people.

Kamal Thapa

How does the executioner always become guilty and those making the decision remain innocent?

Binod Neupane

Corruption has been institutionalized in Nepal. Large-scale corruption is not possible without the involvement and ‘pressure’ of the political level.

There are some positive signs of action against the corrupt. But the style of prosecuting only the employees by saving the political leaders will make the employees afraid to make necessary and correct decisions!

Surya Raj Acharya

It is very sad to say that the literature festival was conducted with the USAID donation.

Rabindra Thapaliya

Neither nationalism, nor sovereignty, nor democracy can be ensured in Nepal without restoring the 1990 Constitution. It is because the new path chosen by them (republicans) leads towards slavery.

PL Singh

Punishing those government servicemen by giving impunity to those corrupt, traitorous traitors, and brokers in the Lalita Niwas corruption case is not acceptable for the Nepalis.

Arjun Gyawali

If leaders and ministers should not become responsible for their mistakes, this fake ‘offensive move’ is not acceptable for us anymore.

Sharad Raj Pathak

Considering the mathematics of parliament, 94 percent of the parliament is currently walking on the Prachanda Path. They believed that the path drawn by Prachanda was the “Lokmarg” that they had built themselves.

Rabindra Mishra

The days of doing politics by cursing the king are over. Instead of insulting the king, they (republicans) should be able to show what achievements the country has made in matters such as nationalism, good governance, development, service delivery, and employment during the one-and-a-half decade of the republic.

Rajendra Lingden

In Nepal, a Hindu nation without a king is an RSS design under the Akhand India. A Hindu state with a king is indispensable for the sovereignty of Nepal. A temple without a priest is quickly dilapidated, we need a temple with a priest!

Saurendra B. Shah

It is a shame to say that this republicanism is for the betterment of the people. What did the people get by sacrificing their children?
