“People’s war” day today

Kathmandu, February 3: The Maoist Center is observing the “people’s war” day today by organizing different programs.

Maoist Center chair and Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has urged all the party cadres to celebrate the day in a grand manner.

The government had announced a national holiday on Falguun 1, however, the Supreme Court suspended the government decision.

On Sunday, the Home Ministry issued a notice stating that there is no government holiday today. However, some local bodies have announced holidays in their area.

29 years ago, the Maoists launched a bloody armed conflict killing over 18 thousand innocent people and wounding thousands. Many infrastructural structures were destroyed, disrupting development activities in the country.

Finally, the “war” was ended with a 12-point Delhi agreement.

Later, the Indian leaders and scholars disclosed that the Maoist movement was sponsored by India with the plan of weakening Nepal.

Thus far, a large section of the Nepali population believes that this is an unfortunate day in history.
