Visual presentation on Buddhist heritage in Pakistan

Kathmandu, February 11: The Youth Buddhist Association, Nepal, and Pakistan Embassy organised, “Buddhist Heritage in Pakistan” (Visual Presentation) in Kathmandu on Saturday, February 10.

Ambassador of Pakistan Abrar H Hashmi, while addressing the audience, thanked YMBA for honouring him to attend the event. He said that Buddhist heritage sites in Pakistan are pivotal in bridging people-to-people contact with Nepal and Pakistan. 

The Pakistan Archeological Department, along with UNESCO, are aptly and professionally preserving the very essence of Buddhist sites. He further said that Buddhist religious tourism has immense potential in Pakistan, especially, due to the presence of Buddhist religious sites in the Taxila, Chakdara, Mingora, and Peshawar areas of Pakistan. 

Meanwhile, other participants and researchers acknowledged the importance of Buddhist heritage sites in Pakistan and desired the permanent inclusion of visiting these sites in Buddhist religious tourism packages by tour operators, especially, in Nepal.
