Kathmandu, February 11: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has expressed dissatisfaction with the court’s order to release 3 persons including Arun Chaudhary who were arrested in the Bansbari land scam.
Speaking at the State Management and Good Governance Committee meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, he claimed that it was the first time in judicial history that the court has set a deadline and released it within 2 days.
We asked for a deadline, but the court can only give two days, after that it is the CIB’s job to investigate. After that, CIB can say that it wants more time, it can also say that it doesn’t need it. “The court can decide whether to extend the deadline or not,” he said.
“It is the first time in judicial history that the court has instructed the police officer to complete the investigation within two days.”
He said that regardless of whether the court’s decision is right or wrong, he will not interfere and will implement it.
Shrestha said that questions have been raised about this order of the Kathmandu District Court. He said that there is no history in Nepal where the court has debated for hours regarding the deadline. However, he said that he has respect for the court and will implement the order.
