Kathmandu, February 11: Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal has once again said that very soon the cabinet is going to be reshuffled and there will be representation of the Tamang community in the new cabinet led by him.
Addressing a Tamang community’s gathering on the occasion of the Sonam Lhosar (Tamang community’s new year), in Kathmandu on Saturday, PM Dahal said that he is planning to accelerate the government’s work by reshuffling the cabinet.
Contradicting PM Dahal’s opinion, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba is not in the mood to change the cabinet soon.
Deuba wants to wait at least for the Mahasamiti meeting of the Nepali Congress.
Deuba has said that it would be better to discuss the cabinet reshuffle only after the Mahasamiti meeting.
The NC Mahasamiti meeting is taking place from February 19 to 22 in Kathmandu.
PM Dahal wants to exchange the Home portfolio with the Finance portfolio. NC has demanded the Home portfolio, whereas, PM Dahal is eying on the Finance portfolio. PM Dahal has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of Prakash Sharan Mahat, who is the Finance Minister.
PM Dahal wants to reward Barshaman Pun with the Finance portfolio.
According to sources, after the Mahasamiti meeting, the government should prepare for the new budget. It won’t give a good message to change the finance minister before the preparation of the budget, they predict.
Deuba is not interested in recalling Mahat, sources say. Deuba is saying that the present ministers should continue at least for two years.
