What the nation is going to achieve from the second reinstatement of the House of Representatives, except chaos and instability in the political arena! Politics indeed is the tool for the prosperity of the nation and the people. Prosperity cannot be achieved if all the actors associated with the nation-building process will not become responsible for their duty. Presently, the nation is engaged in a dirty game of power politics. The political parties are fighting for their role in exploiting the nation as much as possible. The war between the outgoing prime minister and UML chairman K.P. Sharma Oli and the front constituted against him is just for gaining power but not for making the nation prosperous. Sher Bahadur Deuba has been appointed the new Prime Minister following the verdict of the constitutional bench. We have already seen political turmoil in all the provinces since a political dispute was witnessed on the issue of sharing power and posts. The dispute in the federal parliament was escalated in the provinces following the issue of power-sharing. The prime minister of the almost two-thirds majority was unable to work. He was non-functional due to the disturbances created by his own party colleagues. Indeed, the leaders in different political parties and also leaders in his own party were putting pressure on Oli for assigning their men to different political and diplomatic positions and also in the constitutional bodies. Oddly, the media persons were producing news reports with pride that whose man was assigned to which position. There was existed a syndicate for power-sharing or say, bhagbanda. On the issue of bhagbanda, we saw street agitations and demonstrations of strength in the streets. The formation of the new government under Deuba is also based on bhagbanda of power among Madhav Nepal, JN Khanal, Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, Upendra Yadav, Baburam Bhattarai and the coordinator of this bhagbanda is Deuba. We cannot expect anything else from this new government except a loot on the government coffer. The court’s role is also seen encouraging the political leaders in this mission. In a democracy, a fresh mandate provides the opportunity for the voters to elect their representatives. When the prime minister found hurdles in the smooth functioning of the House, he decided to go for a fresh election. Again, when the court reinstated the House, it was unable to function and he decided to go for a fresh election for the second time. Again, the court said no to Oli, which is misleading and controversial. Of late, the court verdicts are being questioned as the judges have attempted to cross their limits. Although there is a large force commending the court verdict, the fact is that the court has contributed to make further dysfunctional the already non-functioning system.
