Kathmandu, September 16: China has informed the embassies of relevant countries in China about procedures for collecting DNA information from relatives of foreign nationals missing following the recent deadly mudslide along the China-Nepal border, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Monday.
Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks while providing an update on efforts to search for the missing foreign nationals.
He said that once the remains of foreign nationals are found and their identities confirmed, the relevant embassies will be contacted to coordinate follow-up arrangements.
Authorities in Xizang Autonomous Region in southwest China have also opened a hotline for families of the missing foreign nationals and will provide timely assistance, Guo said.
