No dispute within RSP: Rabi Lamichhane

Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has clarified that there is currently no preparation whatsoever to reshuffle ministers in the government.

Speaking to journalists after the parliamentary party meeting at Singha Durbar today, Chairman Lamichhane said that although some questions had been raised about the performance of ministers, they were not in favor of changing ministers at this time. He said everyone has the right to question the government and that RSP lawmakers themselves also raise questions, adding that this should not be interpreted as being connected to a possible ministerial reshuffle.

He said: “It is natural for questions to arise, and we do not take them as something unusual. Even within the RSP, despite it being our own party, we raise questions, as you have been seeing. We do ask questions; it is also our practice to do so. We have held this discussion precisely to address those questions. This absolutely does not mean that any minister is going to be changed. There is no such preparation. There has been no such discussion. Sometimes, you write things for your own amusement, saying that perhaps the two of us have completely different views, or that we have had a fight. Such news actually helps bring us even closer. So please do not stop writing such stories. What the Prime Minister wrote is something different. He is also a poet, after all. He is an artist as well. Can’t a poet feel lonely even in such a huge crowd? Look at how many people are here. Therefore, if we start looking for political meanings in every single word, there may not actually be any political meaning at all. The entire party is standing with him. The whole party is standing here, so where is he alone? There is no need to worry about that.”

Claiming that he has no disagreement or dispute of any kind with Prime Minister Balendra Shah, he said that the Prime Minister’s remarks on social media should not be given an unnecessarily political interpretation.

He also said there are no factions or opposing camps within the party and that completing the Central Committee is part of a plan to be carried out gradually over the course of five years.

He said that the minor problems seen in daily consumer goods, including gas, were merely shortcomings in management and should not be linked to the government’s failure.
