‘Constitutional amendment must address citizens’ ownership and rights’

Lalitpur, Aug 19: Nepali Congress spokesperson Devraj Chalise has said that constitutional amendment is a serious matter and must address citizens’ sense of ownership, rights, representation and trust in the state.

Speaking at a press conference held to make public the decisions of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee meeting held from August 9 to August 17, he said the Constitution of Nepal, promulgated by the Constituent Assembly in 2015, was a historic achievement of the people’s sustained democratic struggle and aspirations.

Chalise stressed that the Nepali Congress, as a leading force in drafting the Constitution, must take equal responsibility for protecting it, implementing it and making necessary amendments in line with changing circumstances.
