Helicopter crash in Khotang; two injured undergoing treatment

Kathmandu, March 18: Two people, including the pilot, who were injured in the Air Dynasty helicopter crash at Balaweshi in Khotang, are currently undergoing treatment in Kathmandu.

According to a statement issued by the Civil Aviation Office at Tribhuvan International Airport, the pilot and one passenger were injured in the accident. The injured passenger and the pilot were immediately rescued by helicopter and admitted to HAMS Hospital in Kathmandu at 12:42 pm for further treatment. The identities of both injured individuals have not been disclosed.

According to the office, the Air Dynasty 9N-AFQ helicopter had taken off from Kathmandu carrying a total of six people—five passengers and one pilot—heading to Balaweshi in Khotang (17 kilometers northeast of Khanidanda). The office stated that the helicopter became unstable and overturned on the ground while attempting to land at 11:09 am on Wednesday.

The Search and Rescue Coordination Center under the office is collecting further details about the incident. A detailed investigation is yet to determine the cause of the instability during landing.
