34 Years Ago: Country at Stake

Mohan Bikram Singh, General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) Central Committee, in a press release, expressed concern over the collapse of communism in the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union had already lost track on the principles founded by Lenin, Marx, and socialism. The present scenario is merely a consequence of this. The capitalism and imperialistic powers never allowed peace in the country, Singh claims.

The Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala’s latest visit to India has raised doubts, Singh says, the treaties and pacts that took place in Delhi, haven’t been declared to the public, secrecy on such a serious matter by the Congress government only proves that the countries interest is not saved sincerely. Our national defense, foreign affairs and water resources are always in danger from the growing imperialism of India. The hegemonistic attitude of India towards Nepal has continued from the British Raj. Its plan to make Nepal a market seems to be working out well. Through the medium of the Congress party, the Indian Imperialism has been quite successful in its efforts, Singh says.
