
Kathmandu, March 3: The Nepal-Pakistan Friendship T20 Cricket Tournament that kicked off on Saturday, March 2, was jointly inaugurated by Ambassador of Pakistan, Abrar Hussain Hashmi, Binaya Raj Pandey, former President of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and Ujjal Raj Bhandary, Deputy CEO of the Himalayan Bank Limited.
Addressing the ceremony, Pandey and Bhandary appreciated the Embassy for successfully organizing the event every year since 2014. They highlighted the potential of cricket and sports to bring the youth of the two countries together. They also lauded the efforts of Pakistan in promoting sports and education to enhance healthy activities among youth.
In his remarks, Ambassador, Abrar H Hashmi said that cricket is not just a sport; it also serves as a platform to bring people together and fosters a spirit of camaraderie and teamwork. He further stated that this event would contribute to further deepening the friendly ties between the two countries, especially among youth. The Ambassador thanked the distinguished guests, the organising committee, and Himalayan Bank Limited for their support in organizing the event.
This year, twelve cricket teams are participating in the nine-day event. The tournament is scheduled to conclude on March 10. The event will be streamed live by Mithila Nepal TV.
The Pakistan Embassy Cricket Club won the first match by 149 runs against Nexus Cricket Club 119-7 after 20 Overs on Saturday, March 2.
