Amid the growing popularity of the deposed king and increasing criticism of the syndicate ruling system of the three major parties, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal called an all-party meeting on Tuesday.
In the gathering christened as the meeting of the parties which were together with the signing of the 12-Point Delhi Agreement, the leaders reaffirmed their loyalty to the accord signed with the backing of foreign powers.
During the meeting held at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singh Durbar on Tuesday, the participating party leaders reportedly reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the Federal Democratic Republic which was imposed on the basis of the same accord.
According to the PM’s Secretariat, during the meeting called by the Prime Minister, political parties have expressed their collective determination to defend it against any attempts to undermine its principle.
Addressing the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal clarified that it was only a review meeting between the parties that held prominent roles in the peace agreement.
“I consider this discussion as highly significant, as it brings together the catalysts of change to engage in a review, which is an achievement in itself,” he said.
NC president Sher Bahadur Deuba, UML chairman KP Sharma Oli, vice chairman Bishnu Paudel, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Sarbendranath Shukla and others were present in the meeting.
