BABBLES

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal, addressing a function here on Monday, 3 July, said that Preetam Singh, a social worker also interested in politics, had visited Delhi several times for lobbying on behalf of Dahal becoming the prime minister of Nepal.
PM Dahal made it clear that he became the PM in the interests of India, and Preetam Singh had made a hard effort to make him the PM.
Perhaps, PM Dahal was talking about the first time he had become the PM.
Not odd, this time also, Dahal became the PM in Delhi’s interests. Yes, we know, Delhi didn’t like Dahal’s partnership with K.P. Sharma Oli, thus, the present alliance concept was designed in Delhi by breaking the previous partnership and continuing the partnership with Sher Bahadur Deuba.
No surprise, all are Delhi’s men but Delhi is comfortable with Sher Bahadur Deuba and Pushpakamal Dahal.
Although we know, Dahal or Deuba are Delhi’s comfortable leaders, we came to know from Dahal himself that he was rewarded the PM’s post by Delhi.
Moreover, the present actors either in the opposition or the ruling parties, all are partners in endorsing the 12-point Indian roadmap.
Madame 20 million rupees
These days, the audio clip about paying 20 million rupees has become viral on social outlets. For the Nepali Congress, nothing is free. The mayor’s post is priced at 20 million rupees. Earlier, we had reported that one capable candidate for the post of ambassador was asked to pay 60 million rupees in advance. Accordingly, one broker who was collecting money from innocent people who were willing to fly to the USA guise as Bhutanese refugees had claimed that he had paid 60 million rupees to Dr Arzu Rana, spouse of Nepali Congress president and former prime minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Anyway, politics has become a good profit-making business without investment in this loot-tantra.
Nepali Congress model of socialism
Many Nepalis are dying without getting a tablet of Cetamol. Our former prime minister and Nepali Congress president went to Singapore for medical check-ups. Dr Arzu, spouse of Deuba was also accompanied on the visit.
Immediately after the couple returned from Singapore after a medical check-up, Arzu Deuba left for Japan for medical treatment.
Presently, Nepali hospitals are also well equipped and there are well-qualified medical experts, but the Deuba family have no trust in Nepali hospitals and Nepali medical experts. This is perhaps the Nepali Congress model of socialism.
National Paddy Day
This year, Nepal imported paddy and rice worth 66 billion rupees. Nepal is an agricultural country but the quantity of importing rice and paddy is increasing every year, forget the past glory that Nepal was exporting paddy and rice in foreign countries.
In 2005, the country decided to observe National Paddy Day on 15 Asar. The Day is observed by the political leaders by planting paddy in the paddy fields and posting photographs on social networks. Some leaders were found flying to different districts to take part in the paddy plantation events organized in their electoral constituencies.
The real farmers’ plight is different. They are facing irrigation problems and also the scarcity of fertilizers needed for paddy plantations. The leaders are not concerned about the plight of the farmers but they are anxious about in participating the paddy plantation events.
As the country’s paddy production has been declining, observing National Paddy Day has turned into just a formality.
Yet another university
Nepal’s universities and colleges are facing a scarcity of students as students chose to go abroad for higher education.
Nepal’s universities and colleges have turned into a venue of politics rather than a holy place for education. Already, we have many universities, yet, Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal is anxious in establishing a new university named after the late Girija Prasad Koirala. There is a trend of establishing institutions, foundation, hospitals etc. in the name of the deceased leaders from the government coffer. If this trend will continue, the nation may face an additional economic burden in operating such foundations. If PM Dahal is keen to establish such a foundation in the name of deceased political leaders, he should manage private funds or the political party should manage money needed for the operation of such foundations.
If PM Dahal is aware, when King Mahendra wished to establish the Tribhuvan University, he spent his private property. The two queen mothers, spouses of King Tribhuvan, had disposed their personal ornaments to manage the necessary fund for the operation of the university named after King Tribhuvan.
QUOTES OF THE WEEK
The government has felt that it has done a good job by sending Nepalis as servants abroad. What is more shameful than this? The government authorities are signing labor contracts with different countries, and the ministers have not been ashamed.
Give work to the Nepali youths in their own country, and call all workers abroad back.
Dr. Rambhakta Thakur
The difference between Nepalis and foreigners is that foreigners respect working people, while Nepalis insult them.
Bishwosingh Mewahang
What is modernization in agriculture?
Planting paddy wearing Daura Surwal, expensive sari, glasses, and coat; reaching the paddy farm by plane; making a video and uploading it on YouTube?
Raagi
The present coalition government has decided to oust Nepali citizens from the country by providing citizenship by descent to foreigners.
Madan Regmi
Whether you call it a country or a nation, it is not geography, and it is not soil. It is actually the people. The thing that is in the interest of the people is the thing that is in the interest of the country.
B.P. Koirala
Until now, the governments of the other parties used to privatize the government undertakings, saying that they created a heavy loss and the government was unable to run such undertakings. They privatized them.
After running government schools and hospitals brilliantly in Delhi, now our government is buying private thermal plants in Punjab. We will make electricity more affordable than the private sector.
Arvind Kejriwal, chief minister of New Delhi, India
