Kathmandu, 14 January: Bhuwan Pathak of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has been elected as the speaker of Bagmati Province Assembly.
Three lawmakers — Pathak from RPP, Shiva Raj Adhikari from Nepali Congress and Srijana Saiju of Nepal Workers and Peasants’ Party — had registered their candidacies for the post. He was elected with 62 votes while his closest contender Adhikari obtained 36 votes. Pathak is a lawmaker from Kathmandu under the proportional representation category.
