Kathmandu, 9 December: Suspended Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana’s attempt to return to the Supreme Court through the Parliament Secretariat has finally failed following the verdict of Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court (SC) this afternoon that the letter written by the General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, Bharatraj Gautam, on 7 December, to invalidate the impeachment, has come to a complete halt.The SC has asked the opposition parties, General Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat Gautam and Rana to show their reasons within seven days.
It may be noted that Rana is retiring from judicial service with effect from December 13. He wanted a dignified farewell from the court but the lawyers and the SC officials including the government were opposed to his failed efforts.
