
Kathmandu, 16 September: The Nepal Myanmar Chamber of Commerce and Industry has expressed its belief that a new dimension will be added to the relationship between the two countries during the tenure of the newly appointed Nepali Ambassador to Myanmar Harishchandra Ghimire.
In a ceremony organized to congratulate the ambassador who is going to Myanmar to take up his official duties, the president of the association, Shiv Kumar Agarwal, said that economic and social relations between Myanmar and Nepal are expected to develop and expand. President Agarwal said that there is a possibility of a large number of tourists coming to Nepal from Myanmar, where 85 percent are Buddhists, and requested to facilitate this through diplomatic channels.
Commending the Nepali people in Myanmar for their active role in preserving Nepali religion and culture, President Agarwal said that the embassy should take initiative to connect it with Nepal.
The newly appointed Ambassador Ghimire expressed his commitment to take forward the friendly relations between the two countries while the Ambassador of Myanmar to Nepal U Seen Oo pledged to extend every possible cooperation to his Nepali counterpart in Myanmar.
