One Nepali national shot dead in Indian jungle

Kathmandu, 1 July: A Nepali national has been shot dead while he picking some herbs consumed as vegetable in the dense forest of Murtiha on the Indian border with Bardiya. Hemraj Godiya, 54, of Gulariya Municipality-3 was shot dead on Thursday evening, according to local police.

The injured Godiya, who was shot, fled  the scene and reached near his house and fainted. When he regained consciousness, he called his relatives at home. He was rushed to Gulariya Hospital in an ambulance for treatment. According to Superintendent of Police Birendra Bahadur Shahi, he died due to excessive bleeding. He said an investigation was underway into the incident. It is suspected that an Indian forest guard fired at him.
