According to as-yet-unconfirmed reports, it would appear that the government has decided to grant special class civil servants with the foreign exchange facility for US $10,000 and more for the import of automobiles for personal use.
Even more impressive is the reported allied decision for a whopping 95 percent discount in customs duties on such imports.
Although some media reports inform that the civil servants may not sell such vehicles for five years and may not repeat the facility within a period of seven years going on past instances of such offers, it is doubtful if all vehicles imported in such a fashion will, in fact, be put to proper use.
