Langtang and Gosaikunda routes open for trekking

Kathmandu, Oct 23: The Langtang, Kyanjin and Gosaikunda areas are open for trekking, the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) has said.

With a Bailey bridge installed at Betrabati, which was damaged by a flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26, trekkers now have two alternative routes to reach the Langtang region, according to TAAN.

Under the first option, trekkers can travel from Kathmandu to Trishuli and Betrabati, then reach Dhunche or Thulosyabru before continuing on foot through Bamboo, Lama Hotel and Langtang to Kyanjin.

The second route runs from Kathmandu through Chisapani, Helambu, Tharepati, Ghopte and Gosaikunda, before reaching Thulosyabru. From there, trekkers can continue through Bamboo, Lama Hotel and Langtang to Kyanjin, TAAN said.

The association has urged trekkers, tourists and tourism operators to check the latest trail conditions before starting their journeys and take necessary safety precautions.
