Media reports have it that Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councillor Wang Yi is paying an official visit to Nepal at the end of this month.
However, his visit is not confirmed yet by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. But sources at the ministry said that the officials are busy looking for a suitable date for Wang’s visit to Nepal.
If Wang visits Nepal as reported, he will be the first high-level Chinese leader to visit Nepal after Sher Bahadur became the prime minister in July last year.
Wang is arriving in Nepal just a month after Nepal’s parliament ratified the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact, which had caused a division among the parties before its endorsement from the House of Representatives.
It was widely speculated that as the leaders closed to China had strongly protested against the MCC, China is not happy with its endorsement. Maybe, China will seek a guarantee from the government that no anti-China activities will be allowed on Nepali soil, which the government of Nepal had already clarified time and again.
Along with Wang, Song Tao, head of the International Liaison Department of the Chinese Communist Party, a vice foreign minister and a delegation from various departments of the Chinese government will be in the visiting team. be visiting Nepal.
Saudi Foreign Minister visits Nepal

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, returned home after concluding his two-day visit to Nepal on Tuesday.
During his 24-hour stay in Kathmandu, Prince Faisal called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
During the meeting, various aspects of Nepal-Saudi Arabia relations, as well as matters of mutual interest and welfare, were discussed, according to the two separate statements issued by the President’s Office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
High-level government officials were present at the meeting, the statement added.
Likewise, during his courtesy call on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar, various aspects of Nepal-Saudi Arabia bilateral relations, as well as cooperation in multilateral forums, were discussed, the MoFA said in its statement.
Similarly, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Narayan Khadka held a bilateral meeting with his Saudi counterpart at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two Foreign Ministers discussed the diverse areas of cooperative bilateral relations and underlined the need to further explore possibilities of cooperation in various fields, the MoFA informed.
The two Foreign Ministers also signed a General Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Nepal and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal bade farewell to the visiting dignitary at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
