Dhawal Shumsher meets former King Gyanendra

Kathmandu, Aug 23: Dr Dhawal Shumsher Rana, who has parted ways with the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and embarked on a new political journey, met former King Gyanendra Shah on Saturday.

Rana said they discussed contemporary issues during the meeting. According to Rana, the two held a lengthy discussion after meeting for the first time in a long while. They talked about the country’s current situation, political developments and other issues.

He said former King Gyanendra wished him success in moving forward by bringing everyone together. Appearing encouraged after the meeting, Rana said he would expand his party’s organization across the country and contest the upcoming local elections.

Rana, who left the RPP and formed the Jai Nepal Party, spoke about his meeting with the former king at a function held by the Himani Trust.

“The former King is concerned about the country. He has a positive outlook and wants the country to move forward and all Nepalis to live happily. It is natural for him to be interested in what is happening in the country, what we are doing and how we are moving ahead.”

“I briefed the former king about my activities. I no longer have any relationship with the RPP. I have already left the party. I did not discuss the RPP. When I told him that things had not worked out with Durga Prasai, he laughed. He did not make any comment,” he said.

The former king did not tell anyone personally how they should move forward. His view was that everyone should be brought together. He believed we should move ahead by including people of all castes, cultures and communities,’ Rana informed.

“The former king does not speak negatively about others. He talks about moving forward by including all religions, cultures and communities. Speaking negatively about others is not his habit,” Rana said.
