RPP patch up differences—for now

The main upshot of the just ended five-day meeting of RPP’s central committee called primarily to consider whether or not to penalize party chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa for his alleged sabotage against co-chairman Rajeshwor Devkota’s candidature at the Upper House elections last month is that a split has been averted.

Directly flowing from that outcome is that the three-party, anti-Left combine will survive—at least for a while. That incidentally, means that the prospects of it being replaced by a UML-RPP combination are not on the cards – again at least for now.
