
Kathmandu,25 December: Most of the main accused have been cleared in the case of smuggling 33 kg of gold seized by the police in Kathmandu five years ago. Punishment has also been reduced for those found guilty. However, the lower class people involved have been imposed stringent sentence by the court.
After the Kathmandu District Court cleared the main investor, the District Public Prosecutor’s Office has appealed to the High Court.Eleven people have been convicted and 19 others have been acquitted in the case. The case of five accused has been adjourned as they were not present in the court, according to reports.
