How MPs make money, an MP informed the secret source of income to this Babbler. He said that the MPs’ Development Fund is a very secret source of income. MPs receive a minimum of one million rupees to spend in the development works in the MPs’ electoral constituency. That money should be invested for different projects in MP’s electoral constituency, but then how will he or she get money? The MP informed that the MP will have secret agreement with the construction contractors for providing minimum 30 percent commission against the deal. Guess, how much money the MP will receive as per the agreement!
Why government projects are delayed?
An engineer informed that one construction contractor, who was rewarded with several construction projects, received payment in advance as per the agreement decision. That fund, the contractor invested for construction of his own private hydropower project by keeping pending the government projects. He is making money from the hydropower project and he is even ready to pay any fine against the delayed construction of the government projects, the engineer informed. This is why the government projects’ construction has been delayed.
Festival allowance for the political leaders
The cabinet decided to provide festival allowance to the political leaders also. In the past, only those government employees were receiving such allowances.
Politics and service are two different things. Politics, in yesteryears, was considered as a social service for the people.
These days, the government is giving salary to the ministers, MPs, mayors, ward chairmen and others. Therefore, the government thought about providing festival allowances to these people. When the politicos receive festival allowance, why not giving them pension after their retirement?
Contradiction is that to join civil service, one should be able to pass the Public Service Commission examination. Education and qualification count for the civil servicemen. To join politics, these qualifications are not needed. Yet, the political position is considered as a lucrative area.
Nevertheless, the government lost billions of rupees by providing festival allowances to such people!
