The political parties are now preparing for the by-elections to the House of Representatives, State Assemblies and local levels slated for November 30.
The by-polls will be held to elect 52 representatives, one to the House of Representatives, three to the State Assemblies and 48 to the local levels.
However, except for the ruling NCP and Sajha Party, other parties have not yet finalised the names of their poll candidates.
The ruling NCP has decided to field Bidhya Bhattarai, the widow of Rabindra Adhikari, in Kaski-2 for the House of Representatives. The seat has remained vacant after the demise of the then Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Adhikari in a chopper crash in February this year.
Likewise, NCP has fielded Bimala Oli for the State Assembly seat of Dang and Devi Prasad Dhakal in Bhaktapur seat. But the party decided to back Rastriya Janamocrha in the Banglung seat.
NCP has also finalised its candidates in local levels, including the mayoral candidate of Dharan.
Nepali Congress is likely to finalise its candidates by Thursday.
The by-polls will be an opportunity to evaluate the popularity of the present two-thirds majority government led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
