Kathmandu, Aug 14: The government is studying the possibility of withdrawing cases filed against people involved in the Gen Z movement and those arrested during the protests.
Home Ministry Secretary Rajkumar Shrestha said a separate committee has been formed to study the matter.
Shrestha provided the information during a meeting of the House of Representatives’ Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee.
Committee Chairperson Samikshya Baskota had asked what was being done regarding the agreements reached during the Gen Z movement and the people arrested in connection with the protests.
In response, Home Secretary Shrestha said the issue was under study.
He said a committee had been formed to examine the agreements reached during the movement and the cases against those arrested.
“The committee will prepare a report and make recommendations after determining how many cases have been filed, their current status and how they can be withdrawn. A decision will then be taken based on those recommendations,” he said.
