After a full court meeting, SC issues five-point statement

Kathmandu, November 2: The Supreme Court’s full court meeting held on Monday issued a five-point statement.

The Supreme Court administration made the statement after taking note of news reports published and broadcast by various media outlets and circulated on social media, which mentioned the names of the Chief Justice and Supreme Court justices.

In its statement, the Supreme Court urged the concerned authorities to conduct an impartial and independent investigation into the issues reported and disseminated by the media and make the findings public at the earliest, based on facts and evidence.

The statement also reaffirmed the Court’s unwavering commitment to the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law. It further clarified that the full court was committed to fulfilling its legal obligations and extending cooperation in any inquiry or investigation into the media reports, in accordance with the law.

Similarly, the Supreme Court urged media outlets not to publish or broadcast reports that could tarnish anyone’s reputation or obstruct the administration of justice before the investigation reaches its conclusion.

The meeting also called on judicial personnel working in all courts across the country to remain focused on their judicial responsibilities without being distracted by the published and broadcast reports.
